Hello all! I am wondering if anyone has experience re-attaching the little bumper inside the cap. I have a Type II Curta with the plastic case. The part is something familiar to most but I just don't want to damage it by using the incorrect adhesive if one is necessary. |

Just looking at mine now, the rubber cap fits over the little plastic post by friction alone (fifty years on, wow). On my metal-cased type 2s it seems all are stuck on with different types of glue so I'd go with 'whatever works'.
I'm not sure future collectors will worry too much about the condition of the bumpers. They're about the only parts of the Curta that can degrade over time (well, the lubricants too I suppose) and you could probably have replacements made. _________________ Cheers, Pete |

Thanks for the suggestions. Weird thing is for my particular part is it fails to fit snugly in the cap. It just slips right off which got me into the predicament in the first place. I consider myself lucky because I initially thought I had lost the piece. When I found it I was overjoyed but a little concerned when it would not fit.
I decided to use an adhesive that may serve well enough to affix it but not damage the surrounding original material. Thanks. |
