I have a Model 2 for sale and need advice on price. I purchased it in Lichtenstein in 1969 while on vacation Serial #554834.
curta condition is excellent. finish is very lightly worn on the ring around the bottom and there is some green corrosion on the 2 bottom screw heads.
I also have the original plastic case with some scuffing, the original mathematical handbook, computing examples handbook, your curta instruction book and original warranty. I have seen several close to this serial number on e-bay but the prices are wide apart.
Any advice would be helpful |

I wish I had pricing advice for you, but I lack any experience needed for the area. I will say that it would be good to be patient as this forum can be a bit slow compared to some other forums. Just be patient.
Unless you need to sell it very soon, someone should be here that will have the expertise to answer your question eventually. |

this IS the slowest forum on the world!
A realistic price for such a later Curta II would be $700 to $800 _________________ :: m u r f f

I agree with Murff. I own two of that vintage and would value them at no more than $800 on the eBay market. One of mine is pretty much 'mint' and I paid $800 for it. No bare metal is showing anywhere, it looks barely if ever used.
Any machines with bare metal showing on the bottom of the machine and particularly with discoloration on those baseplate screws - and a scuffed case - I'd put at the $600-$800 mark, or even less - I bought a good-condition one for $550. They regularly go for that on eBay. Sorry, late-model type 2s are the least-prized Curtas, it seems. _________________ Cheers, Pete |
