I recently sold my type II, SN 539041 for $711 on eBay.
It was given to me by a family member who bought it for rallying.
The serial number calculator indicates it was made in June of 1963.
In the box there was a price sheet which I presume was from the company it was purchased from.
The type written two page document indicates it is a PRE-CHRISTMAS SALE.
The price is listed as ($165.00) $139.95.
I presume the list price is in parenthesis and the price paid is the 139.95. |

Sounds about right. It was made in June 1963 but when did he buy it? _________________ Cheers, Pete |

I'm not sure when it was purchased, but since it was a pre-christmas sale, probably 63 or 64. |

Ha, those type 2s were reviled, weren't they? Even now they fetch less than the type 1, just look at eBay sales records, despite being priced significantly above the type 1. And I'm talking as a man who owns no less than seven type 2 machines <sigh>
I suppose it held its value pretty well from the purchase though - http://www.dollartimes.com/calculators/inflation.htm tells me it didn't depreciate much! _________________ Cheers, Pete |
