Hi there!
I own my first Curta for about 3 years now. It occured to me I am not doing any maintenance.
What should I do for the unit? And how often? I am going to try to use it at least 1 every 3 mos now so it doesn't stick.
Thanks! |

The best maintenance for mechanical calculators (not just Curtas) is to exercise them now and again. I’d suggest every month or so that you do a division calculation - this ensures that subtraction and addition is performed in each carriage position. I have nearly 100 mechanical calculators of various types, so this schedule is not always easy - but I do try to exercise all of them at least twice per year. Also, keep them somewhere warm (room temperature).
Best Wishes
