|
|
According to http://www.vcalc.net/cu.htm They have a serial number 5790 with pins not sure what name is on the machine or can. Looking at whats claimed to be 3008 it has rectangles and only says Curta, can is shiny and also only says Curta. Does anyone have better info on when they switched from pins to rectangles and from "CURTA" system... to just CURTA on the machines and cans?

Works for me.
Hmm, interesting... well if I get it one of the first things will be to remove the bottom plate and confirm the Serial number |

That's my recommendation - my 8xxx has block sliders, my earlier machines have pins, and everything about the machine pictured says it's later than 3xxx to me. _________________ Cheers, Pete |

"everything about the machine pictured says it's later than 3xxx to me"
..everything except the can, which is definitely earlier with the matte paint. I would not exactly kill to find a can like that, but I would pay good money for one!

Cris, I'm pretty sure the can pictured is supposed to go with the pin-slider machine represented as 5790 _________________ Cheers, Pete |

Hmm, I disagree. The machine numbered 3000 something is the one with with plain shiny can and rectangular sliders. Clearly it had an accident with a broken off slider and was repaired, which necessitates replacement of all the pins as well as the main body cover. The machine pictured with pins is earlier than 2800 - it has the matte can and the top body ring engraved with the numbers. That makes it really really early.
