Tip of the hat to murff for the on-going effort to keep the Curta fellowship as active as feasibly possible.
Given he is just one of many Curta lovers, I applaud his enthusiasm to stir the pot (in a good way, of course), instead of being a Curta hermit -- of which I include myself into this group .
Yet everyday is an opportunity to start anew. |

I'm really sorry, I had every intention of taking part but recent life events have eaten into my time and I just didn't get around to it. I enjoyed the photographs that were submitted, it was a great idea and I hope that we see some more interesting Curta photographs by members in future. By way of recompense, here are a couple of mine (one of my other main interests is wristwatches).

Beautiful (Curta & Timepiece). By chance, murff and I were briefly discussing other interests outside of Curtas a while back, and I had disclosed my interest in timepieces.
I, too, happen to be a happy owner of an Omega -- thus your picture caught my eye. At risk of making this board into anything other than what it is intended to discuss (Curtas, not timepieces), I'll throw a picture up of my Curta & Timepiece.
There is something intrinsically "awesome" about timepiece movements, just as it goes for the incredible design of the Curta calculating mechanical movement (a product in its entirety which would, unfortunately, not be well served on a financial platform to produce commercially in this era -- unlike timepiece movements.)
The interests pair up nice.
Homemade straps
And for the "Fortis" folks, which is a rarity to be seen on the wrists of USA folks these days, a fan I am

I absolutely agree. That's a rather lovely 'Snoopy', you have captured the lume beautifully. Maybe we should start a 'Curtas and Watches' thread...
You can read about the modified Vostok Amphibia in my photograph here:

Stunning Nomos murff -- love the NATO strap too
I can't afford the higher end hobby of Swiss timepiece collecting either, though I do have two mechanical beauties I treasure. Along with my previous post of the "Snoopy" watch, I find exceptional character in my beloved Zenith (Le Locle, Switzerland) aviator timepiece. It's bronze case quickly develops a distinct aged patina -- unique to each individual owner.
It's huge "onion" crown was common among aviator timepieces back in the days of the early, open air cockpits (or even closed -- as cabin air compression was a technology still to be developed). Consequently, this large size crown gave these early pilots the ability to adjust the timepiece on his/her wrist without having to remove bulky & thick temperature protective gloves.
Cheers...

Lovely Zenith! I like the Nomos very much as well.
Here's another variation of the Speedmaster, commonly known as the 'Tintin'.

That's a lovely Spacematic, Sebastian. It has a very interesting movement with the mechanical alarm. Great photographs too!
I'm on the lookout for a Fortis Official Cosmonauts Chronograph with the Lemania 5100 but they are quite hard to come by. |
